Bloom Where You’re Planted
I woke up today thinking of two phrases:
1. Bloom where you’re planted.
2. Make deep connections, not deep attachments.
I’ve been on the road most of my adult life - many times I’ve uprooted to relocate in a moments notice. Something I joke about with my closest friends and family.
However, today I woke up in my new home with a motivation to dig deeper roots, to build more of a home-base than before... it’s crazy the amount of comfort that thought brings, and yet discomfort in knowing this makes me feel more vulnerable - the idea of not moving, being still, staying committed vs. being mobile, on the move, in anticipation of being flexible. It appears more challenging to allow my roots to take hold and to be still.
Even further, I can see where this directly correlates with my yoga practice. I’ve always felt more comfortable in a flowy class, something on the move, more of a dance vs. a yoga class that encourages me to hold poses for longer, to find stillness, and to find satisfaction within that particular moment... TO BE PRESENT.
Many times we hear yogis talk about how you handle yourself on the mat is how you will handle yourself off the mat. Most of us just smile and nod at this idea, but today it’s hit home.
I challenge you to look at your yoga practice and find that connection with your life off your mat. And if you don’t practice yoga… why not? And analyze that reasoning? How do you play out that reasoning in your day to day activities and challenges?
Much love and gratitude,
Namaste.
